UT Progression Guide
Items are numbered in order of progression. The higher a number, the later relative stage in the game you would farm for those items. Those with a [†] are considered "swapouts", which are meant to only be used when needed and not as your main ability.
Swords
The Titanium Cleaver is a very good first UT weapon for knight. [1]
The next upgrade should be Chain Combustion for range as its 7 range and decent damage is quite generous for a knight class. [2†]
Demonic Blade is the next DPS weapon upgrade. [2]
Freddy's Microphone is a very situational weapon as it has an extremely high DPS, which is almost the same as Exodus but the drawback is that the effective range for max DPS is 0. Basically you need to stand on top of an enemy for most DPS with this weapon. [3†]
Mechanical Cutlass is a solid sword, and because of the way it attacks it makes it very good for left emblem skill tree. [3]
The next ranged option upgrade is going to be the Dark Guardian Sword which only has 1 downside, the fact that it's a slow projectile. [3†]
Retribution is going to be your main damage weapon until you get exodus. [4]
The final ranged weapon option upgrade is Nebula's Battleaxe. On a slight note tho, unex Nebula's Battleaxe and EX Dark Guardian Sword has the same DPS. [4†]
The best weapon for heavy, Exodus is very powerful, but you do need to keep looking at the enemy, otherwise the combo will cancel. [5]
Shields
The Shield of Glacial Reflection isn't exactly that good, mainly because it requires damage taken to activate which is way too risky for the damage it offers, though the damage does scale with attack and can crit. [1]
Shield of Ogmur is a decent DPS shield, providing great burst damage and also gives a bit of attack. [2]
Crystal Shield, you should have this in your hotbar no matter what. The 3 seconds of invincibility it provides is no joke. [2†]
Despite being a bloodshot the Shrouded Shield is pretty bad, it cant hit upwards and the range feels really limiting. [3]
Emblems
Sandstone Emblem is a must, and you should EX it ASAP as the speed it gives is very good but should be limited to a swapout just for speed. [1†]
The Dwarven Emblem will be your main emblem offhand until you get Visage of the Night. [2]
Emblem of the Juggernaut provides really nice burst damage but has the same downside as freddy's microphone, the range. [3†]
Visage of the Night is the best emblem for attack speed as its EX version gives the bonus permanently. [4]
You could call Oblivion's Reach a "better" version of juggernaut emblem with its damage and not being too hard to use, but the 50% health loss if you mess up can be severe. [4†]
Masks
Corvack's Mask is really good as it gives quite a bit of speed which is needed for heavy classes. [1]
Warden's Faceguard is a decent upgrade however that does mean that you lose the speed gain from it in exchange for vitality and evasion. [2]
Crown of the Ethereal Radiance gives very good EHP, only bested by the Angelic Mandorla. [3]
Angelic Mandorla, the best helmet in the game compared to Crown its more generous especially with the speed it gives. [4]
Chestplates
Diver's Plating is pretty decent even for end game to min-max your DPS as it's one of the limited ways to increase critical damage. [1†]
Chestplate of Torment provides really good EHP and attack. [2]
Breastplate of New Life is the best chestplate for survivability as it provides a lot of hp and vitality.[3]
Chrysalis of Light is best used as a swap-out for instant healing. [3†]
Wrathguard is the best chestplate damage wise, it also gives a bit more defense than breastplate of New Life. [4]
Greaves
Drayruk's Battle Greaves give decent speed, and attack which is good for heavy. But these leggings usually have less defense than tiered alternatives.[1]
Greaves of the Juggernaut is the best EHP leggings in the game, on top of that the ability giving 25/30 vitality for 5 seconds is quite generous making it an essential swap-out even in end game. [2†]
Greatwood Greaves provide quite a bit of vitality, health and attack. These leggings form a good middle ground for a piece which provides DPS and also EHP. [2]
Phantasmic Greaves is the best DPS leggings for heavy in the game as it gives 20 speed which is very good for heavy. Phantasmic greaves also provide the highest amount of attack and crit across all other options of leggings. [3]
Sabatons
Lightning Boots gives enough speed to fix the speed problem of heavy classes. [1†]
Chronos Sabatons is really good for EHP as it provides a good amount of defense with quite a bit of health. [2]
Heraldic Heelguards is the best boots for damage as it gives attack critical chance and even speed. [3]
Decaying Sollerets gives decent stats, however Heraldic Heelguards are preferred over it in most instances. [3]
Timelost Sabatons is the best boots for heavy classes in terms of EHP. [4]
