Starting Out

Once you have completed the tutorial, you will find yourself in the nexus.

In the nexus, you can store items in your stash, sell items on the auction house, accept weekly quests (available after the starter quest line has been completed) and enter the various realm portals located in the center of the nexus.

Before setting out, make sure you are aware of the differing character rulesets.

Choosing how to play the game is essential before starting a character. All rulesets have permadeath enabled.

Although a preference, Telos Realms has been designed to be played in either 1st or 3rd person perspectives, with 3rd person having the ability to shoot straight whilst taking advantage of the increased field of vision (try it out by looking down and clicking your main weapon).

Loot Progression

Another important feature to be aware of is the loot filter. Many new players do not like picking up gear that is not usable by their current character. To filter your gear, type /loot or navigate to the loot filter through the Adventurer's Obelisk. Once in the menu, deselect all but your class to filter the loot appropriately. You can also set a minimum tier point requirement for gear that you would like to pick up, so that you are not picking up tiers that you do not need.

Character progression takes the form of increasing stats though using stronger gear and equipment fit for your character, or transcending your character to the next level granting permanent stat increases to your class.

This can be done by defeating enemies granting you Soul Points which you can use to transcend your character granting bonus base stats.

To view your stats use '/stats' in-game.

Equipment can either be tiered or untiered (UT). Tiered gear can range from Tier 1 to 11 with the lower end representing weaker and more common gear, and the higher end representing stronger and rarer gear. Untiered gear (UT), as the name suggests, signifies that the stats and/or the functionality of the item deviates from typical conventions seen with the tiered gear. You can expect more extreme stats on untiered gear with the drawback of having lower stats, or missing stats. You can also expect untiered gear to have unique abilities and methods of dealing damage. Combining many types of untiered gear will help you direct your stats towards your style of play.

Dungeons

Difficulty and dungeon progression is categorized into tier points. Tier points are the sum of all the tiers that you currently have equipped, which are visible on the tooltip of every item. A T1 helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots, ability (in your offhand) and weapon will total to 6 tier points, while T11 versions would total to 66 tier points. Untiered (UT) items also have tier points, which are visible on the items tooltip. Every dungeon in the game has a minimum tier point threshold to be allowed to enter. Please be aware that the tier point requirements for dungeons are only a minimum to enter, and some may be difficult for parties whose gear is close to the required tier points. All dungeons also have a recommended amount of tier points to solo. The lowest tier point requirement is currently 6, while the highest is 70. There are currently 32 dungeons in the game.

In the realm, players can fight many different world bosses and enemies, and almost all of them can drop a dungeon. Dungeons are separate worlds that can be entered by crouching on the portal. Most dungeons are randomly generated, and dungeons located at the 'centre' area have the possibility of treasure rooms, with treasure chests in them that can drop the same loot as the final boss. All dungeons have various enemies in them, and a final boss that can be defeated for loot.
